Australasia
Australasia, also known as Oceania, is the most frequently visited continent by gap travellers. Most go straight to Australia, often stopping off in South East Asia first.
Australasia includes New Zealand, the Cook Islands and several other island groups, such as the Solomon Islands. For gap travel discussions we also include Fiji in Australasia.
Gap Travel Australia |
A typical gap travel plan is to visit Australia for several months at the start of a gap year trip. Here you can work legally and help pay your way while enjoying an amazing gapper lifestyle! Many gap travellers then move on to New Zealand for a few weeks touring round and enjoying the many adventurous activities there. Some gappers continue through Samoa, or the Cook Islands, but most on a gap travel trip head on to Fiji, where a few weeks simply chilling on the superb islands is brilliant relaxation.
